Attack on Titan
Developed by Omega Force and published Koei Tecmo, Attack on Titan is an action game set in a world inspired by the popular manga and anime series of the same name created by Hajime Isayama. The game is a PlayStation 4 exclusive released on August 30, and features the dramatic storyline and epic battles that have made this series so popular.
Gameplay and Mechanics
That agility is only enhanced by the introduction of "Attack on Titan"'s Omni-Directional Mobility (ODM) gear, which lets players zip through the air and spin around Titans with ease. To top it off this gameplay mechanic provides a liberating sense of freedom and perfectly encapsulates the wind in your hair excitement from the anime. Playing as characters such as Eren, Mikasa and Armin, they fight against the hulking Titans.
Following the storyline of season one, players can relive key moments and battles in-game. However, the combat soon becomes monotonous with its ease and repetitive mission types. Even so, the ODM gear has fluidity and depth that keeps you entertained.
Visual and Audio Design
The visual style of the anime has a cel-shaded art direction that brings an added layer to the presentation and helps boost its authenticity. The Titans, meanwhile, are imposing and scary as heck. Also included is music from the anime, making your gameplay experience even more immersive with intense and exhilarating battle tracks.
Story and Characters
The game's story mode features the same storyline as found in the anime and supplements this with more side quests. A story-centric experience, the cutscenes and dialog keep this engine powered with an engaging narrative that fans of the series will find enjoyable. Those looking for new missions beyond the main storyline, original side-missions provide some extra gameplay.
Multiplayer and Replay Value
Multiplayer Gameplay: In one of the missions, players can play along with several companions to defeat titans together. This mode helps to increase the replay value of this game, and it's really fun embarking on a journey with your friends. It also has multiple difficulties and a New Game+ mode for replay with increased challenge.
Criticisms
The game has been praised for capturing the spirit of anime with its gameplay mechanics as well, but it also carries a fair few criticisms including mission structure and under-delivering in the combat depth. The game may feel a little simple for some players which may reduce its replay value long term.
Conclusion
The gameplay is fun and fast paced, the graphics are nice, like being part of an episode from the anime series with you in charge now. Fan of the series or not, Wings Of Freedom is a good game in its own right with fantastic graphics and fun ODM gear mechanics that keep it fresh until you hit the episode where Titans learn to climb onto high places. While for more than 20 hours, it will be complete-candy to anyone expecting a little repetition with their horse adventures.
Gamers who want to experience Attack on Titan are advised to buy the game from reliable sources such as PlayStation Store or online retailers like Amazon and eBay, in order for developers Hajime Isayama et al. a secure gaming experience supporting also suggest
