Originating from Delhi, I am an ardent gamer and have Bollywood in my blood and so be it the enigma of cinema. So let's delve into this game......so deep until final layer that it offers Yet?

Overview

Ben 10: Power Trip (PHL Collective / Outright Games, 9th Oct) Ben 10Released: October 9, 2020A game based on the beloved animated series "Ben 10" Packed with a mix of exploration, puzzles and combat this is an excellent game for those that have previously enjoyed the franchise.

Storyline

In the story, Ben, Gwen and Grandpa Max are on a European vacation. This tragedy turns into an adventure when the evil sorcerer Vousdoukas Hex, who has stolen four enigmatic crystals of terrible power, is preparing to sow chaos in Europe. Ben has to join forces with his cocky, 10-year younger counterpart: Ben 10,000 and his Bio-BlastToverDrive to save the past from startegically humilianting all things Hex! The story is basic but fun, doing a nice job of following over from the animation and giving a nice platform for the gameplay.

Gameplay

Mechanics and Controls:

The strength of the game is in its style, where Ben can transform into one of six different aliens (each with their own powers) These changes are fundamental to combat as much as puzzle-solving. The controls are extremely intuitive, allowing for quick alien-switching and the use of their unique abilities.

Open World:

The factor which sets this game apart is the semi-open world design. Move freely between regions, go on side missions, and collect wares. The game also does a good enough job getting the vibrant, well-designed South Park environments across that fans of the show will appreciate them whatever the twist.

Combat:

Combat is simple but enjoyable Alien Forms: Each alien form offers something different. For instance, Heatblast's fireballs and Four Arms' heavy-hitting melee drives add variety to the battles. Every single alien faction is considered, and while this can become monotonous in combat (smashing the face off of an alien terrorist for the 100th time isnt exactly wildly thrilling) the array if aliens keeps things fresh.

Puzzles and Challenges:

This can enter light puzzle solving, with some clever uses of Ben's many alien powers. Most of these puzzles are well-designed, and they add to the game without straying too far into the territory of being overly complex.

Graphics and Sound

From a visual standpoint, "Ben 10: Power Trip" looks worthy of note. Graphics are still kept with the same opening like art style to keep in tone with the animated series giving you some well detailed character models and flashy environments. Though the sound design is similarly praiseworthy and enhanced by the presence of the original cast to further secure an authentic feel to the game.

Replayability

It is not a very long campaign probably 6-8 hours and while there are side missions, it was nice to get some replay value with collecting stuff and doing quests. However, after you have gone through most of the globe and done a lot of main quests, the open-world has a possibility that it might get boring.

Criticisms

"Ben 10: Power Trip" has lots of positives going for it, however there are some negatives as well.

Challenge: This is obviously made for kids, it is too easy for any adult or child with a few years of gaming under their belt.

Clank: Combat and a few other gameplay features could start feeling clanky after spending some time with the game.

Shallow : Enjoyable but lacks the depth that older gamers may be looking for.

Conclusion

The charm and style of the "Ben 10" series is wonderfully captured in an action-adventure experience called Ben 10: Power Trip. A fine choice for the new favourites and franchise fans, alike. While there are three parts to the game, they all still remain largely true to the source material by combining bits of exploration, combat and puzzle solving in each segment. Sure, it may seem a bit easy and the cannon fodder is built-in, but for all its lack of challenge for hardcore gamers, it's still an enjoyable trip through everything "Ben 10."

If you want a more thorough review and some gameplay footage, hit up the likes of IGN and Metacritic instead. If you do want to be the hero that will save the earth with the power of the Omnitrix, then "Ben 10: Power Trip" is a game you need to try for sure.
