Remedy Entertainment's "Control" for PS4 drops players into a strange and inscrutable universe of supernatural occurrences and reality-warping mysteries. From a third-person perspective, it is an entertaining action-adventure game that portrays the perfect blend of compelling narrative and dynamic game play all while giving you some Thanks to its implementation of glorious graphics.

Story and Setting

Control: Jesse Faden appears with a background that sees her search for the mysteries of her past forcing to seek them out at the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). Jesse wanders the transmorphical halls of the FBC's headquarters, called the Oldest House, discovering dark hidden truths, encountering spectral entities. Set in formerly exultant remains, the narrative is deep with things you could read about (and some of which you will) and rebuilds itself in an intentionally non-linear way - informing players to fragment together the puzzle of a story through exploration and learning.

Gameplay Mechanics

Telekinetic Combat:

Controls are split between gunplay and use of super-powers like telekinesis, levitation and mind control in both combat and environmental traversal. Typical firearms are a bit more traditional, while the special powers definitely add new twist to strategy and make for creative combinations with guns, in a fluid dynamic combat system.

Jesse's primary firearm, the Service Weapon, can take on different forms with unique functions and combat applications. This is essential when moving on to more difficult enemies and challenges though, as you will need to upgrade the weapon and abilities.

Exploration and Puzzles:

The game's twisting and turning supernatural corridors are all interconnected, joining fast travel sites, secrets, hidden areas and collectibles seamlessly within The Oldest House. For that, you will have to explore to complete the story and get some extra upgrades or resources.

Wild environmental puzzles force players to utilize their powers and more importantly, think outside of the box. These puzzles serves as a way to break up the gameplay offer rewards such as useful items or lore.

Features and Enhancements

Visual and Audio Excellence:

Control" is known for its great visuals and beautiful use of lighting, smoke, and partcle effects. The game is visually stunning and features a brutalist aesthetic overlaid with surreal, almost alien imagery.

First off, the sound developers and guest composer absolutely nailed the atmospheric music, but the sound effects truly pierce into every fibre in your being, creating a deep immersion within the world of Carrion.

Dynamic Environment:

It is an ever-changing place filled with unexplained phenomena that cause shifting locations within its walls to change and reveal hidden doors. This constantly changing environment keeps it fresh for the player and exploration always feels engaging throughout the game.

Side Missions and Expansions:

Alongside the core story, Control also include a series of side missions that further explore the lore and offer a different kind of challenge with additional rewards. These quests usually come with one of a kind fights and riddles;

Add-on content has also appeared to extend the story and open new areas, introduce new abilities, and present brand new foes into the world offering even more playtime value.

Fun Fact

EASTER EGGS AND REFERENCES Remedy made several references to their own past games and franchises via Easter eggs in Control, including: Alan Wake (2010). All of these secret winks tie "Control" to a larger universe and please fans of the studio.
