Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada, which was developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo is an exciting hack-and-slash game based on the real-life past of the Sanada family. This game is a hack and slash video game developed by Omega Force, released on May 23, 2017 PlayStation4 as an offshoot of Samurai Warriors Series that itself part from bigger installment Dynasty Warriors.
Gameplay and Mechanics
The game follows the life of Yukimura Sanada, widely regarded as the best samurai in Japan and is set over 48 years. The game brings in a number of new gameplay elements.
Castle Towns: Players can visit these towns to experience the lives and battles of officers outside their army months.
Multi-Stage Battles: These help in bringing depth into the combat which forces us to prepare strategically for each and every phase of a battle.
Progressive Stages: Characters change in physical and mental appearances as they get older.
While the hallmark fast-paced, combo-driven mechanics that define Warriors games are still very much in tact with Dynasty Warriors 9's combat system, there are plenty of new moves and abilities to keep things fresh.
Visual and Audio Design
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada has stunning detailed environments and characters models which bring the Sengoku era to life. It offers rich landscapes, detailed costumes and weather effects. From grand-soundtrack to environment sound, all deeply fit into the game where it guided with real-historical sounds and music.
Story and Characters
Setting its sights on the Sanada clan, it begins with patriarch Masayuki before transitioning to his son Yukimura. Spanning multiple decades, the story explores both a deep dive into how exactly this clan was formed and were left with little tribute during Japan's Warring States period. The game features a number of historical events and battles which serve to enhance the story-line.
Community and Reception
Both 'Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada' and its story-focused approach have been well received, but some negative aspects have attracted warnings about the game's lack of innovation compared to previous games in the current branch-off from Koei Tecmo's Samurai line. It was sort of met with some complaints as being more an additional content to a game than its own Game on it's part. However, the game that managed to find an audience outside of Japan that likes it and enjoys somewhat historical (in a scifi way) worship at Sanada clan theme.
