Story and Setting

The title takes place in Masohoroba Village, a war-torn village that has been devastated by Oni invasions. Mysteriously lifted through time, you awaken as a Slayer with no memory of your life...But something about this world seems oddly familiar.... Players will also be asked to help defend the village and hear what lies behind the Oni invasion: players will forge alliances, uncover deceptive truths, and fight for the world.

Open-World Adventure - For the first time in the series, Toukiden 2 will feature an open-world environment with various locations for players to explore. This will also be one of the biggest change compared to its predecessor as fields and dungeons are seamlessly connected. This takes the form of an open-world and it all adds to the sense of exploration and finding out about a world that you knew nothing about.

Combat System: At the center of "Toukiden 2" is combat -- and lots of it with an easy-to-learn well-rounded battle engine against a variety of Oni in real-time battles. The game will feature multiple weapon types, all of which have their own combat style and unique abilities that players can use. Key in defeating powerful foes is mastering the use of weapons and combining attacks with strategic deployment of Mitama (spiritual allies).

Toukiden 2 (Koei Tecmo, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita) A new “mission-based narrative” plays out as players fight monstrous Oni to capture battle data and gather materials for upgrades in a giant open-world setting with enhanced Demon Hand ability to grapple onto the environment or objects to introduce vertical head-to-head combat. This spices up most of the exploration and battles.

Create A Character-Based Core: There are all kinds of cool re-workings here, such as the ability to customize your Slayer with weapons, armor, and Mitama. Mitama come with a set of skills, abilities and stat bonuses that let you customize your character according to how you like to play.

Quests and Missions: There are a multitude of Quests and Missions, from Main Story Objectives to Side Quests, Bounty Hunts and more. These missions provide players with resources, upgrades and other rewards for their successes.

Visuals and Presentation

Character models are detailed and there's some good animation, while the environment has the atmosphere for sure; The art style mixes dark fantasy with traditional Japanese themes and it brings the environment to life. The day-night transition and weather system make the atmosphere much more immersive as well. All of your actions are further paired with a tremendous and very emotional soundtrack that sets the tone of combat when there has to be one, and the tone of exploration when we need to calm down!

The strong point of Toukiden 2 is that you can play it either in single player mode or with other friends in a multiplayer mode:

Single-Player Campaign - Discover the main story of TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity, revealing the secrets behind the Oni invasion, and save Mahoroba Village from total crumbling. The campaign is a story-rich expedition with lots of character-building and lore.
