Today we got the exciting Arena Shooter Square Heroes developed by Gnomic Studios, which became available on PlayStation 4 just recently on March 1st,. Since then, Epic Chef has gained some attention for its fun multiplayer elements and quirky gameplay which should make a big hit in the world of indie games.

Engaging Gameplay Mechanics

Square Heroes is based on the fast-paced twin-stick shooter mechanics. The game is designed primarily for co-op multiplayer; it supports up to six players online or four locally. Of course, this setup allows for a number of both competitive and cooperative game modes.

Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch: Traditional modes where players or teams compete for the most kills.

Last Alive & Team Last Alive: Counterstrike-inspired modes focussed on survival and strategy through limited lives.

Square Heroes ' colorfully cute 2.5D art style suits its quirky character perfectly The clear, but also lovingly designed characters support the playful graphic of that Game. It also has a great sound design with bang on background music and sounds that do well to accompany the games fast pace.

Excellent Multiplayer and Community Aspects

Multiplayer and local multiplayer is the heart of Square Heroes. The game does have cross-play support, which means that PS4 players will be able to challenge those playing on PC and thus creating a larger pool of competition. It runs flawlessly in high-ping environments, allowing for smooth gameplay between lobbies throughout regions. Local multiplayer for four people means there is no split-screen, which makes it a nice choice to fire up during parties and gatherings.

Critical Reaction from the Community

Square Heroes Square Heroes Average rating: 4.18 / 5 (over 200 backed players on the PlayStation Store) While for many the simplicity means that it is easy to pick up and play — unburdened by meters, levels or any sort of grind whatsoever — others are concerned as this might mean Transistor doesn't have the depth required in order to keep them coming back. The voice acting has received criticism, as have some of the in-game dialogue. The game does offer a variety of different ways to play but later on the replayability diminishes.
