Inspired by classic arcade platformers from the 80s and 90s, Cursed Castilla EX for PS4 was developed by Locomalito and published by Abylight Studios. The game takes play of its storyline in a medieval fantasy world full of tough enemies, danger challenging levels and a rich gothic atmosphere which make it an interesting game. Drawing from classic arcade games and other legendary titles such as Ghosts 'n Goblins, "Cursed Castilla EX" was a love letter to a bygone artistic eras.

Story and Setting

In "Cursed Castilla EX", players are Prince Don Ramiro, who has been summoned by the king to rid the land of the horrible creatures that are haunting it. This European-flavored Western fantasy is swimming in myths and fairy tales, filled with classic monsters and black magic. Players take control of Don Ramiro as he travels through treacherous lands, battleable foes, and the true curse in order to save the land.

Gameplay and Mechanics

Cursed Castilla EX is a very challenging action packed platformer that puts firm controls to the test along with hardcore combat and intricate level designs;

Retro Inspired Platforming - Gameplay mechanics that are simple, quick to pick up and difficult to master, similar to those we grew up with, but they now feature a twist! You need precision jumping and timing to survive.

Weapons: Whereas Don Ramiro has a sword, he might also find other weapons during their journey, such as throwing axes and holy water. Weapons are equally diverse and possess unique properties that lend their shifts in combat.

Boss Battles: This game has bosses you need to beat, each focusing on a unique move you must dodge or run from. These bosses are based off of the mythology, providing a visual and challenge both.

Hidden treasures, power-ups, collectibles-worth discovering in every- level. You are gradually rewarded for exploration as discovering the collectibles can make hard parts of the game a lot easier on you.

Visuals and Presentation

Cursed Castilla EX features a nostalgic 16-bit aesthetic with retro pixel art visuals. Thanks to the highly detailed sprite work, the atmospheric backgrounds and fluid animations are a real pleasure to behold. The gothic look of this game by the impressive OST, composed by Gryzor87, is taken even further by how amazing his fantastic and dark songs for the game.
